Indian stocks are up at the close; Nifty 50 rose 0.15% Via Investing.com

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in the NSE, the index was up 0.15% while the index was up 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were NTPC Ltd (NS: ), which rose 2.37% or 9.80 points to trade at 423.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS: ) added 1.75% or 32.25 points to 1,871.95 and Titan Company Ltd (NS: ) was up 1.49% or 55.60 points to 3,780.95 in late trade transactions.

The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Body. Ltd. (NS: ), which declined 3.47% or 11.65 points to trade at 324.45 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS: ) declined 1.88% or 9.15 points to 477.95 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS: ) declined 1.77% or 5.15 points to 285 ,25.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO: ), which rose 2.48% to 424.10, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO: ), which rose 1.95% to 1,874, 90 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.86% to close at 3,793.00.

The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO: ), which fell 1.18% to 3,685.65 in late trade, JSW Steel Ltd (BO: ), which lost 0.91% to settle at 946.90 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.87% to 4,308.85 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the National Stock Exchange of India by 1840 to 627 and 109 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2639 declined and 1168 advanced, while 91 ended unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.48 percent, or 12.55, to $2,611.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery rose 0.84%, or 0.59, to $70.47 a barrel, while the November Brent crude contract rose 0.75% or 0.55, to $74.20 per barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.03% to 83.66, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 93.45.

US dollar index futures rose 0.05% to 100.33.
