Honda files new design patent for Scrambler – Possible Royal Enfield Scram 411 Rival?

The segment once dominated and led only by Royal Enfield is now populated with several models from different manufacturers. Among these OEMs are Honda. After a design patent for an adventure bike that rivals the Royal Enfield Himalayan, a new patent from the brand has been revealed showing the outlines of a scrambler-style bike. The new bike taking shape will be based on the brand’s 350cc single-cylinder engine platform, which is already used on bikes like the CB350 in the Indian market.

Based on the plan, the bike appears to be a completely new product that will open the brand’s doors to a new segment. In addition, the unique design elements make up for the possibility that it is an updated version of the Honda CB350RS. Going into the details, the bike seems to have a new body style epitomized by the tank design, which is slightly more angular and smaller compared to the normal elongated design and rather smooth lines of the CB350 bikes. The brand has also added a metal support to the fuel tank. Added to this is the raised handlebar.

Moving forward, the bike gets a two-piece raised seat with the front covering part of the tank. This is one of the features commonly associated with off-road capable bikes. It also has an extended tail section and upward exhaust. The bike in its production version could also have front forks with rubber seals and conventional shock absorbers at the rear end. Chances are braking will be handled by disc brakes on both sides.

The bike is expected to be based on the semi-duplex frame as seen on the outgoing CB350 bikes. This chassis could provide space for the 348cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 20.7PS of power and 30Nm of peak torque. It works with a 5-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that the brand uses in the CB350 and CB350RS.
