Norwegian’s Regent Seven Seas Cruises solves a major problem

It would be weird if you went to an expensive fine dining restaurant in New York and it offered plastic forks and knives.

Even if the food were perfect and every other aspect of the meal was top notch, the inferior flatware would stand out.

When you pay for a luxury brand, you expect it to be luxurious in every possible way. A five-star hotel has luxury bedding, toiletries and even extra-ply toilet paper. The staff is impeccably dressed and every aspect of the experience will be (or at least should be) top notch.

This made it stand out that Norwegian Cruise Line’s Regent Seven Seas Cruises offered inferior internet. When most lower-end brands, including Norwegian itself, upgraded to Starlink internet from Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Regent Seven Seas was still offering outdated service.

The cruise line changed that by installing Starlink on all six ships in its fleet, “providing guests with high-speed, unlimited WiFi as part of the cruise fare,” according to the cruise line.

Regent Seven Seas steps up

Regent Seven Seas made it clear that it saw the addition of Starlink as a necessary improvement for its passengers.

“We are committed to providing an unparalleled experience for our discerning guests and are excited to offer luxury travelers the ability to share photos and videos, stream movies and enjoy other engaging onboard content at even faster speeds,” said Regent Seven Seas President Andrea DeMarco.

“As leaders in ultra-luxury all-inclusive cruising, this installation of Starlink WiFi across our entire fleet will not only enhance our guests’ ability to communicate with loved ones at home, but will also support the ship’s operational needs and services.”

Both Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines have installed Starlink across all their brands. The service quickly became the standard for cruise ship internet.

Regent Seven Seas operates using an all-inclusive model.

“Travellers receive a free login for each suite, which offers unlimited WiFi. Guests can choose to purchase additional in-suite connections and also upgrade connectivity to allow passengers to surf, stream and share like never before at sea,” the cruise line said. .

Starlink, which uses low-Earth orbit satellites, will improve the capacity, speed and reliability of onboard internet.
