Musk says SpaceX plans to launch about five uncrewed starships to Mars within two years, per Reuters

(Reuters) – SpaceX plans to launch about five unmanned starships to Mars within two years, Chief Executive Elon Musk said in a post on social media platform X on Sunday.

“If they all land safely, then manned missions are possible in four years,” he said, adding that if there were any challenges, manned missions would be delayed by another two years.

“Regardless of the success of the landing, SpaceX will exponentially increase the number of spacecraft traveling to Mars with each transit opportunity,” the SpaceX founder said.

Musk mentioned the launch of unmanned Mars ships earlier this month in a post on X, saying “the first Mars ships will launch in two years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens.”
