Nuneaton bomb hoax investigation update after town center closed

Police have released an update on the bomb hoax investigation in Nuneaton town centre. Much of the city center was blocked off and many streets were closed on Friday afternoon (May 3).

It followed the discovery of what was initially described as a suspicious package in a shop on Queens Road. A 100m cordon was laid around the city center while the package was assessed and dealt with by the bomb squad, formally known as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

As part of this, a robot was called into the scene. It later emerged that the package was not an explosive device. After almost four hours, the cordon was lifted.
