Aston Villa captain John McGinn was seen on a night out celebrating qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side moved up to fourth thanks to Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat by Manchester City earlier this week.

It marks the first time Villa have qualified for Europe’s most prestigious competition since 1983 – the year after they won the European Cup by beating Bayern Munich.

There were wild celebrations on Tuesday when Villa found out they had qualified for the competition amid the end-of-season awards.

Video footage posted on social media shows Villa midfielder McGinn continued his celebrations this week with an outing in Birmingham.

A fan spotted McGinn as the man in the window – singing Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ at Noel’s Bar and Restaurant in the town, where he was spending the night with friends.

The Villa fan took a selfie filming McGinn, who was singing loudly.

One person on Twitter said McGinn looked “absolutely battered” after enjoying his night.

The 29-year-old had a beer in hand as he stared straight into the camera as he belted out the Michael Jackson hit.

It has been a thriller of a season for Emery’s side, who finished ahead of Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester United to secure a top-four finish.

McGinn, who has been with the team since they were in the Championship, has been instrumental in their success this season.

In 34 Premier League appearances, he scored six goals and registered four assists.

Villa close their season against Crystal Palace on Sunday, where they will look to reach 71 points with a win – the first time they have topped 70 in the top flight since the Premier League’s inaugural season in 1992-93.

Emery, in his press conference on Friday, said his aim with Villa is to win the Premier League and Champions League, despite admitting they are not currently contenders.

The 52-year-old Spaniard said: “My goal is to win the Premier League, my goal is to win the Champions League, but it’s very, very difficult. I want to dream with our supporters and players and always believe in our work.

“Of course we are not candidates, but it is in our dreams to get something like that in the Premier League or the Champions League.”
