Mark Cuban: Trump has ‘new tax or rate cut for every city he visits’

During a CNBC interview on Sept. 5, he also praised Harris for helping entrepreneurs access investment and making it easier for startups to get off the ground.

Cuban is not a fan of Trump’s tariffs

This week, Cuban focused on Trump’s proposed tariffs and other economic proposals.

On Monday, Cuban criticized Trump’s call for a 200 percent tariff on farm equipment company John Deere, calling it “crazy” and “a good way to destroy a legendary American company.”

At a policy roundtable Monday in Pennsylvania, Trump threatened to impose a 200% tariff on everything John Deere makes in Mexico but sells in the United States. The former president was responding to John Deere’s plan to move part of their manufacturing process to Mexico by the end of 2026.

“Put a 200% tariff on the American company that moves some production to Mexico,” Cuban wrote on X. “But put a 10 or 20% tariff on Chinese manufacturers so that Chinese products are cheaper to sell in the US than the american company. “

In Cuban’s view, Trump brought taxes to several campaign stops.

On Tuesday, Trump outlined another aspect of his manufacturing plan at a campaign event in Georgia — this time involving American automakers. Trump has said that if elected, he plans to impose a 100 percent tariff on every car made in Mexico.

“With the vision that I’m presenting today, we’re not only going to stop our businesses from going to foreign countries, but under my leadership, we’re going to take jobs from other countries,” Trump told rally attendees.

Separately, Trump also floated the idea of ​​temporarily capping credit card interest rates at around 10 percent during a rally in New York last week. Notably, Trump’s proposal exceeds the 15 percent cap that Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont proposed in May 2019.

All in all, Trump’s actions, Cuban says, make him look more like a Marxist than Harris. Trump and his supporters have often accused Harris of being a communist.

“Who proposed price controls? Trump. Who proposed a tariff on all imports because he doesn’t understand them? Trump. Who said he would punish companies that manufacture in Mexico despite his policy, the USMCA, allowing it? no -knows his own Trump policies,” Cuban wrote in a post on Tuesday.

“She is far more Marxist than she could ever be. He just doesn’t know yet,” Cuban added.
