Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher, while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close on the NYSE, it lost 0.70%, while the index fell 0.19% and the index added 0.06%.

The best performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: ), which rose 3.20% or 0.73 points to trade at 23.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE: ) was up 1.35% or 3.65 points to end at 274.09 and Walmart Inc (NYSE: ) was up 0.90% or 0.73 points, to 81.40 at the end of trading.

The worst performers of the session were Amgen Inc (NASDAQ: ), which declined 5.46% or 18.06 points to trade at 312.86 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE: ) declined 2.36% or 3.48 points to 143.97 and Boeing Co (NYSE: ) declined 2.30% or 3.59 points to 152.22.

The best performers on the S&P 500 were Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (NYSE: ) which rose 5.14% to 19.85, Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ: ) which rose 3.68% to settle at 262.81 and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: ) which gained 3.20% to close at 23.54.

The worst performers were Global payments Inc (NYSE: ), which fell 6.50% to 97.06 in late trade, Amgen Inc (NASDAQ: ), which lost 5.46% to settle at 312.86, and General Motors Company ( NYSE:) which fell 4.87% to 45.73 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Transcode Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ) which rose 55.58% to 0.65, Rezolve AI Ltd (NASDAQ: ) which rose 52.85% to 7.52 and Alpha technology Group Ltd (NASDAQ: ), which gained 46.26% to close at 2.15.

The worst performers were Vertex Energy Inc (NASDAQ: ) which fell 58.45% to 0.15 in late trade, Creative Media & Community Trust Corporation (NASDAQ: ) which lost 54.87% to settle at 0.69 and Stitch Fix (NASDAQ: ) which fell 39.47% to 2.27 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange through 1991, up 804 and 96 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq, 2,240 declined and 1,052 advanced, while 124 ended unchanged.

Shares in Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ: ) rose to all-time highs; up 3.68% or 9.32 to 262.81. Shares of Walmart Inc (NYSE: ) rose to all-time highs; up 0.90% or 0.73 to 81.40. Shares of Boeing Co (NYSE: ) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.30% or 3.59 to 152.22. Shares of Vertex Energy Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to all-time lows; down 58.45% or 0.21 to 0.15. Shares of Creative Media & Community Trust Corporation (NASDAQ: ) fell to 5-year lows; losing 54.87% or 0.84 to 0.69.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.22%, or 5.85, to $2,682.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery fell 2.46%, or 1.76, to $69.80 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.93 % or 1.44, up to 73.03 dollars per barrel.

EUR/USD fell 0.47% to 1.11, while USD/JPY rose 1.11% to 144.79.

US dollar index futures rose 0.52% to 100.68.
