Japanese stocks are up at the close; The Nikkei 225 rose 2.41% Via Investing.com

Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, it rose 2.41 percent to hit a new one-month high.

The best performers of the session on the were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO: ), which rose 8.01% or 1,910.00 points to trade at 25,760.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Ebara Corp. (TYO:) added 7.79% or 165.00 points to end at 2,282.00 and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO: ) was up 7.66% or 165.50 points to trade at 2,326.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kyowa Kirin Co Ltd (TYO: ), which declined 3.01% or 81.00 points to trade at 2,612.50 at the close. Astellas Pharma Inc. (TYO: ) declined 1.21% or 21.00 points to end at 1,719.00 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (TYO: ) declined 0.75% or 7.10 points to 939.50.

Advancers outnumbered decliners on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2,943 to 762, while 187 ended unchanged.

USD/JPY was down 0.00% at 144.74, while EUR/JPY was up 0.15% at 161.41.

US dollar index futures fell 0.11% to 100.51.
