Bath is one of the easiest cities to explore in the UK

Bath has been named one of the most popular cities in the UK. The city came 10th on a list of popular city breaks compiled by language training company Preply, with nearby Bristol in fourth place.

The list was made by calculating how long it would take to walk to the five most popular tourist attractions in the city. In Bath, they estimated it would take 10.8 miles, 14,280 steps or 138 minutes. Or, in fitness enthusiast terms, you’d burn 714 calories.

Preply Marketing Specialist Nadiia Mykhalevych said: “For those who can, exploring on foot is one of the best ways to discover a new city and experience it like a local. You’re more likely to find hidden gems and get a more authentic look at the culture.”

Oxford has been crowned the UK’s most walkable city, taking just 22 minutes (or 1.8 miles) to see its most popular attractions. It’s also not much of a workout, burning just 116 calories.

Meanwhile, Brighton took home silver with a 1.6 mile (31 minute) walk to the top five attractions. York took bronze, with visitors having to walk 2.4 miles (48 minutes) to see the best the ancient city has to offer.
