Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix hopes Leeds United manager Daniel Farke can help the Whites get over the line in this season’s Championship play-off final.

Leeds arrived at Wembley on the back of Thursday’s 4-0 drubbing of Norwich City but have failed to win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in five attempts.

“Every time I went to see Leeds in a big game or a final, I didn’t do anything,” Rix said on the latest episode of BBC Radio’s Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast Leeds.

“With Farke this year, we did things we don’t normally do.

“Perhaps Farke is the man to break the deadlock and get us a win at Wembley.

“Surely some good times are ahead at Wembley?”

BBC Radio Leeds sports editor Jonny Buchan appreciates the enormity of the play-off final, which will be a first for many of Leeds’ sides, but believes the Whites have regained form at the right time.

“Think of this team, not many, if any of them will be playing at Wembley,” he said.

“It’s a huge occasion for everyone and the players.

“They seem to have a bit of a bounce back in them and whoever comes up against Leeds, they’ll be thinking, ‘Oh, that’s Leeds a bit earlier in the calendar year. That Leeds that was in their glory.”

The Whites will face Southampton at Wembley on May 26 after the Saints beat West Brom 3-1 in the second leg of the semi-final on Friday.
