Real Madrid have found their replacement for Luka Modric at Liverpool

Real Madrid are targeting a Liverpool star to replace Luka Modric. It could cost them £60m.

Argentina’s DSports radio claims Real Madrid have set their sights on Alexis Mac Allister. Now, this wouldn’t be a 2024 transfer – they’re thinking of 2025, when a new midfielder will replace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

The report claims there is even a release clause in Mac Allister’s £60m contract. Real are set to unleash it next year as they look to bring in an experienced midfielder to replace their aging stars.

And Mac Allister certainly has experience. He is just coming to the end of his first season at Liverpool and will play in the Champions League for the first time next season.

Above all, though, being a World Cup winner sets him apart. There aren’t many of those holding midfielders – especially in what would be his early years.

Real Madrid, then, have a plan in mind. But is it one they could implement?

Alexis McAllister to Real Madrid?

This is definitely the first I’ve heard of a release clause. Liverpool have never signed them to contracts, so we’d be shocked to learn that Mac Allister has one.

After all, he didn’t arrive at Anfield with the kind of reputation that could sway Liverpool to change their stance on release clauses.

And if there isn’t a cause then we don’t see how Mac Allister could be sold for £60m. He had an outstanding first season at Liverpool and I felt he was the best in the Premier League at one point.

A sale – again, assuming there is no clause – should push £100m. Of course, a lot could change in a year, but we don’t see how Liverpool could make it easy for Real.
