Families come together for the Bristol Welly Wanging Championship

Wellies were thrown into the air as locals took part in the inaugural Bristol Welly Wanging Championship. Held at Greville Smyth Park on Bank Holiday Monday (May 6), competitors had to throw their boots the furthest than everyone else.

Adults paid £1 for two throws and children paid 50p to show off their skills and be in with a chance of becoming a Bristol Wellies Wanging Champion. Judging by our photographer’s photos, it looked like the contestants had a good time.

The championship had three age groups, namely over 16, 13-16 and under 13, with one male and one female category in each age group. Children and adults brought their own boots to throw as far as they could.
