Police investigate new shootings in Glendower Road a week after shots were fired on the same road

Police are investigating a second shooting alert in a week on the same street in Birmingham. On Saturday, May 18, they fired from a car at a property in Glendower Road, Perry Barr, at around 11pm.

No one was injured in what police called a “targeted attack.” It came seven days after shots were fired at another home on the afternoon of Saturday, May 11.



A 23-year-old man has been charged with firearms and drug offenses in connection with the earlier incident. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 15 May and was arraigned at Birmingham Crown Court on 12 June.

West Midlands Police said they had not ruled out links between the incidents and that extra patrols were taking place to secure the community. A spokeswoman said: “We are investigating after shots were fired at a property from a car in Glendower Road, Perry Barr, just after 11pm last night. No one was injured at the property and we believe this is a targeted attack.

“Shots were fired at another property in Glendower Road on the afternoon of Saturday 11 May. A 23-year-old man was later charged with firearms and drugs offenses and appeared before Birmingham magistrates on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody in Birmingham. Crown Court on June 12.

“We have not ruled out the possibility that the incidents are linked and this will form part of our ongoing investigation.

“We know how worrying this will have been in the community with two firearms incidents in one week. Firearms have no place on our streets and we are determined to find out who was involved and why.

“We will have additional officers in the area to provide reassurance over the coming days. We are keen to hear from anyone who was in and around the area at the time and may have seen something, have dashcam footage or any information. “

Tyrese Mignott, 23, of Foden Road in Great Barr, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life on Tuesday 14 May. He was also charged with possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
