US regulator opens probe into more than 360,000 Ford SUVs over brake failure By Reuters

(Reuters) – A U.S. auto safety regulator said on Friday it was investigating 368,309 Ford (NYSE: ) crossover SUVs in the country over a loss of braking caused by a rear brake hose failure.

The preliminary review covers some Ford Edge crossovers from the 2015 to 2017 model years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Ford did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The complaints also allege that the loss of braking capability occurs without any prior warning and results in longer stopping distances, NHTSA said.

Ford has recalled 488,000 2020 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles in the US for brake hose failures.
