Airstrikes launched on Yemen’s Sanaa and Hodeidah, Houthi Al Masirah TV said.

(Reuters) – Airstrikes were launched on several parts of Yemen on Friday, including its capital Sanaa and Hodeidah airport, Al Masirah TV, the main television news channel run by the Houthi movement that controls much of Yemen, said the residents.

The strikes also targeted the southern city of Dhamar, the channel added.

Al Masirah TV reported that the strikes were carried out by US and British forces, but a British government source said Britain was not involved.

Iran-aligned Houthi militants have launched attacks on international shipping near Yemen since November last year in solidarity with the Palestinians in Israel’s war with Hamas.

The Houthi attacks have drawn retaliatory strikes by the US and Britain and disrupted global trade as shipowners divert vessels away from the Red Sea and Suez Canal to sail the longer route around the southern tip of Africa.
