I tried breakfast in a mug from a hidden cafe in Bristol

Summer is fast approaching and that usually means new tastes, experiences and opportunities to try something new as summer cafe menus come into action. There’s a cafe in Bristol that’s taking it to the next level as it introduces a creative new drink.

Located in Whitefriars on Lewins Mead, just outside the city centre, Campbells Kitchen is recognizable only by a sign outside. Six new summer drinks have recently launched and one of them is breakfast in a cup.

The “Iced Crispy Chocolate” drink is an iced coffee with dark chocolate sauce, milk and topped with rice krispies. It’s both cereal and a caffeinated beverage rolled into one.

The cafe is open from 6.30am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, which means the drink could go a long way in getting me through the day. One morning I decided to try the drink to see if the unusual combination really worked and to see if it was worth having breakfast in a cup.

The ‘chocolate crisp on ice’ costs £3.50 and comes with a special tip from one of the people working in the cafe: ‘You’ll probably want a scoop for later.’ It was clear to see exactly why I needed a spoon looking at the drink that would soon be in front of me.

I actually think it looks pretty nice, and I enjoyed looking at the mix of milk, chocolate, and coffee that created a cool aesthetic. The rice crispies on top made it look like a pile of pebbles and stones you’d find on a beach.
