Junior Dixon had a message for doubters after more Birmingham City heroics

It was a sublime weekend for Birmingham City’s youngsters with play-off success for the under-18s and under-21s.

The Blues’ U21s defeated Millwall at The Den on Friday night to book their place in the national final of the Professional Development League. They will face either Sheffield United or Swansea City.

The Under 18s enjoyed their own success at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Saturday, beating Bristol City on penalties. Martyn Olorenshaw’s side will now face Charlton Athletic in that final.

Junior Dixon’s goals were again the difference for the under-21s against Millwall. The fiery forward scored both goals for the Blues to take his tally to 19 for the season in all competitions.

The Londoner failed to force his way into the first team last season, but his record for the second string should give him an opportunity to impress in pre-season.

He reflected: “It’s my first year here and I’ve had so many ups and downs in my career and my family has been here and I’ve had a lot of emotions. I felt like I proved a lot of people wrong.
