In addition to celebrity chef restaurants, Strip casinos offer dozens of other options. Eventually, some of those restaurants run their course, and casinos have to close old restaurants and refresh the spaces with new concepts.

Las Vegas Strip hotel-casinos will soon close several longtime restaurants that debuted on the Strip more than 10 years ago.

Avenue Café at MGM Grand, in operation since June 2013, will close for good on November 17, MGM Resorts International (MGM) disclosed.

The restaurant is expected to be replaced by a new concept in February 2025.

Avenue Café had been a popular cafe for breakfast and lunch, at least on weekends, as this reporter experienced on a Sunday in July. The restaurant’s hours are from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, so there was never a dinner crowd.

MGM Grand describes The Boulevard as a throwback to Las Vegas past:

“With its vibrant retro design, Avenue Café offers a glamorous twist to old Vegas. Slip into a high-back booth for a hearty breakfast with a made-to-order omelet and signature mimosa. Or linger a little longer on a sandwich. or burger for lunch,” MGM states on its website.

Avenue Café’s breakfast menu includes omelets, steak and eggs, lox and bagels, eggs Benedict, and most other items one might find on a typical breakfast menu. The lunch menu includes burger, turkey club, Philly sandwich, pizza, a variety of salads and other items.

Following its decision to close and replace Avenue Café, MGM Resorts International on Oct. 2 revealed plans to close another limited-time restaurant, Della’s Kitchen at Delano Las Vegas, which originally opened in September 2014.

On the Las Vegas Strip Della’s Kitchen is closing

Della’s will close for good on Oct. 30, but MGM has not released specific details for the replacement restaurant.

Della’s Kitchen’s website describes the restaurant as “historic farmhouse meets urban cuisine,” serving breakfast and lunch with a mix of classics, comfort food, and seasonal specials.

One issue with Della’s Kitchen might have been the hours of operation. The restaurant is open Monday to Wednesday from 07:00 to 13:00, but is closed on Thursdays and Fridays. It is open Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It’s curious that you choose to close on Thursday and Friday, since most restaurants that aren’t open seven days a week choose Monday or Tuesday, maybe both, to be closed.

Della’s menu is much more limited than Avenue Café’s. In addition to the typical breakfast egg offerings, the menu also includes chicken and waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, and yogurt and berries.

For lunch, Della’s offers a steak sandwich, a turkey and chicken Caesar wrap, two salad offerings and five bowl options, including a steak and eggs and a smoked salmon bowl.
