Ange Postecoglou praises Spurs star who worked ‘very hard’ against Sheffield United – The Spurs Web

Speaking to the media after his side secured a comfortable win over Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou commented on Dejan Kulusevski’s performance as the Swede scored twice in a win over 3-0.

The final day of the Premier League season brought no shocks or surprises for Tottenham this afternoon as they cruised to an all-important win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Ange Postecoglou’s men needed just a point to be certain of the final spot and guarantee Europa League football for next year, but as expected, Spurs went for the jugular against the Blades.

Dejan Kulusevski put Spurs ahead after 14 minutes, but it wasn’t until the hour mark and an explosive finish from Pedro Porro that the Lilywhites really killed off the game. Kulusevski then added another for Spurs five minutes later to wrap up the contest.

The Swede went close on several other occasions but was met with an inspired performance from Blades goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

Dejan Kulusevski was rewarded for his hard work

In his post-match press conference, Postecoglou was asked about Dejan Kulusevski’s performance and the Spurs boss praised the Swedish star for his contribution today.

He said (via Football.London): “I thought Deki was good. He has worked awfully hard this year without much reward in the front third.

“We thought playing him in the middle today would help us with his mobility and ability to run in behind. He did good.

“He always works hard but it’s that kind of final three where we need him to get the rewards and he got them today so he did well.”

The players will now fly to Australia ahead of Tuesday’s post-season friendly against Newcastle United.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kulusevski really needed such a game to end the season on a high, as he has been quite poor in the last two months.

The two goals today will do them some good and help them get some relief from the fans.
