US stocks up at close; The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.30% by Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close on the NYSE, the index gained 0.30%, while the index gained 0.97% and the index rose 1.44%.

The best performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: ), which rose 4.20% or 0.94 points to trade at 23.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE: ) added 2.46% or 7.00 points to end at 291.57 and Travelers Companies (NYSE: ) was up 1.93% or 4.37 points to trade at 230.34 at the end of transactions.

The worst performers of the session were Caterpillar Inc (NYSE: ), which declined 2.58% or 10.29 points to 387.96 at the close. The Dow Inc (NYSE: ) declined 2.58% or 1.41 points to end at 53.21 and American Express Company (NYSE: ) declined 1.71% or 4.68 points to 269.11.

Top performers on the S&P 500 were Palantir Technologies Inc (NYSE: ), which rose 6.56% to 41.44, Edwards Lifesciences Corp (NYSE: ), which rose 6.20% to 68.54 and Palo Alto Networks Inc (NASDAQ: ) which gained 5.09% to close at 355.13.

The worst performers were Marathon Petroleum Corp (NYSE: ), which fell 7.66% to 159.99 in late trade. Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE: ) which lost 5.31% to settle at 136.34 and Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ: ) which declined 5.01% to 45.35 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Agrify Corp (NASDAQ: ), which rose 1,470.73% to 3.22, Vision Marine Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: ) which surged 675.35% to settle at 3.90 and Laser Photonics Corp Unit (NASDAQ: ) which gained 83.33% to settle at 7.92.

The worst performers were Vincerx Pharma Inc (NASDAQ: ), which fell 41.62% to 0.41 in late trade, Cemtrex Inc (NASDAQ: ), which lost 34.26% to settle at 0.90 and Phoenix Engine Inc (NASDAQ: ), which fell 33.24% to 0.70 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1452 to 1364 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq, 1,809 declined and 1,463 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged.

Shares of Palantir Technologies Inc (NYSE: ) rose to all-time highs; gaining 6.56% or 2.55 to 41.44. Shares in Vincerx Pharma Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to all-time lows; losing 41.62% or 0.29 to 0.41. Shares in Vision Marine Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: ) rose to all-time lows; up 675.35% or 3.40 to 3.90. Shares in Cemtrex Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to all-time lows; down 34.26% or 0.47 to 0.90.

Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.99%, or 26.30, to $2,639.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery fell 4.42%, or 3.41, to $73.73 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.37 % or 3.54, up to 77.39 dollars per barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.10, while USD/JPY fell 0.01% to 148.16.

US dollar index futures fell 0.07% to 102.23.
