Carnival Cruise Lines explains a missed port policy

When a cruise line has to miss a stop, skip a stop, or otherwise change its itinerary, it owes passengers very little. They must reimburse any taxes and port fees, as well as any excursions booked with the cruise line.

They must not reimburse passengers for excursions, beach club memberships or anything else not booked through the cruise line. Furthermore, according to your cruise contract, the cruise line does not owe you any additional compensation.

The contract is not written this way to be mean or to make a cruise line not face consequences for missing a port day. This is done so that the captain only has to focus on the safety of the cruise ship, its crew and passengers, without having to make any income or business considerations.

Some passengers, however, believe they should be compensated if their ship misses a stopover – even when it is replaced by one that is arguably better. That’s something Carnival brand ambassador John Heald dismissed in a recent post on his Facebook page.

While docking in Cozumel is nice, Progresso is probably a better stop because it is much less frequent.

Carnival owes you nothing

“We had a lady who couldn’t go to Cozumel, went to Progreso instead and is asking for a $250 onboard credit,” Heald said.

You can practically imagine his wry smile as he prepares to answer.

“You know, I think it’s safe to say that the vast majority of people who have written to me, and there have been hundreds and hundreds and hundreds every day since the news broke of this great hurricane, that everyone has been so kind and so of positive. and I want to wish everyone in the path of the hurricane a safe time because to miss a port and say you owe us $250 is I don’t know what word I’m looking for really be careful,” he replied.

Heald emphasized that the loss was minimal.

“I’m kind of tired too. Bullshit, stupid. You know, the crew is still there. You’re still getting 5-10 meals a day. Everything’s going. You’re not in the path of a hurricane,” he added. “The captain is keeping you safe.”

Still, he tried to be understanding.

“I know it’s disappointing to miss a wicket but is it wrong of me to say you have to put things into perspective? You really have to put things into perspective,” he wrote.
