BBC Countryfile slapped with complaints as angry viewers demand ‘priorities please’

BBC Countryfile was slammed by angry viewers as they demanded: “Priorities please”. The BBC show returned on Sunday night, with viewers slamming water companies after an environmental segment focused on the mismanagement of waterways.

James ran: “Water companies paying huge dividends. They are very careful to maintain or increase debt so that they never make a profit. EBITDA is for other businesses, you know. on countryfile. The presenter talked about water pollution, that it is bad for animals and sometimes for people.

“Well done #Countryfile for highlighting the failings of the #EnvironmentAgency regarding the mismanagement of waste water in privatized water. This is something the government can do! Or do they have a conflict of interest? #CorruptBritain,” Norrette said.

“This report on #countryfile shows how badly the @EnvAgency is letting the country down. Basically crunching the numbers on #sewerdischarges. So disappointed that no one seems to be holding these huge profit making water companies to account!” Katie said.

“Does anyone else think Countryfile is asking the wrong people about water pollution? AFAIK Ofwat has the power to hold water companies to account but is clueless about their use!” Gordon agreed on Twitter/X.

Genius said: “@Feargal_Sharkey I’m just watching Countryfile on BBC1 and it looks like the environment agency may or may not be bringing prosecutions against water companies illegally polluting our waters. Government protects profit makers above all else.”

“Thames Water makes big money for their shareholders while pumping sewage into our rivers… Retired teachers will keep quiet because their pension funds are the biggest investors,” Vinny said on Twitter/X.
