Leicester City warned €7m target sends farewell message ahead of summer transfer

Gabriel Pereira has written what appears to be a farewell message to his Gil Vicente teammates.

The 24-year-old was sent off in what looks set to be his final game for the Portuguese side – albeit seven minutes into extra-time at the end of a 1-0 defeat to Estrela Amadora. As a result of the end of the season, both teams remain in the Primeira Liga.

However, whether Gil Vicente’s centre-back stays with the team remains to be seen following speculation linking him to Leicester City. Italian publication Also Mercato Web claimed Pereira is a priority target for the Foxes and they tried to lure him to the King Power in January only to be rebuffed.

It is said that Gil Vicente may be more willing to talk and that they want €7m for the Brazilian who has two years left on the contract he signed when he moved from Vilafranquense.

Unfortunately for City, Benfica, Braga, Lyon and Udinese are also interested – but on the other hand, it now looks like Pereira could be lining up a move.

He took to social media to send a message to his current club – which reeked of goodbye. He wrote: “End of season!!! Just to thank God for all He has done in my life, for keeping me and allowing me to complete another era. It was a great pleasure to be part of this group, I will miss every moment, every practice, every game, every laugh, it was amazing moments. Thanks for everything, FAMILY.”
