The partnership will allow The BRIT School to remain free for all performing and creative arts students, as the two organizations work together to develop and nurture the talented individuals who enroll at the school.

PRS for Music represents the rights of over 175,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers worldwide.

The collaboration continues this week with support from PRS for Music Chromatwo nights of original music created by BRIT School Year 12 music students, to be performed at the Stanley Halls in South Norwood.

As part of the programme, the PRS for Music team will take part in a series of talks, sharing their professional expertise and knowledge of the music industry.

The partnership will build on The BRIT School’s history of encouraging students to be creative and dream big. Opened in 1991, the school’s alumni include international stars including Grammy Award winner Adele, Libera Award winner Black Midi, MOBO Award winner FKA Twigs, Sunday Times best-seller Kae Tempest, six-time BRIT award winner Raye, to Ivor Novello award winners The Feeling and MTV Europe Music Awards winner The Kooks.

Between them, the alumni have achieved over 250 million in record sales, 36 Top Ten albums, 91 Top 40 singles, including seven No. 1s; 21 BRIT Awards, 19 Grammys, two Oscars and two BAFTAs.

The BRIT School declined to reveal the value of the deal with PRS for Music, but has more than 1,400 pupils aged 11 to 18 at its school in Selhurst, where it employs around 170 staff.
