A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car in Beckenham

A motorcyclist died after a collision with a car south of Beckenham on Monday.

The man, in his 40s, was found seriously injured on Croydon Road at around 7am and, despite the efforts of emergency services, died at the scene.

The collision happened near the junction with Groveland Road.

The Metropolitan Police is in the process of informing the man’s family.

The driver of the car involved suffered minor injuries, the Met said.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 6.45am today to reports of a road traffic collision in Croydon Road, Bromley.

“We sent two ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of our crews, one patient died. We also checked a second patient at the scene.”

Officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating the crash.

Croydon Road is closed in both directions. Bramerton and Westbury roads are also closed.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area as there are significant delays.

Any witnesses are asked to call 101, with CAD 944/30oct.
