The ‘concern’ over the future of Mark Robins and the Coventry City transfer was addressed

It’s that time of year when football fans are filled with anticipation and excitement as their club prepares for what many hope will be an extremely busy and constructive transfer window.

This time last year, Coventry City supporters were filled with dread and resignation at the loss of two of their best players and worrying about how their recruitment department would get over this bump in their progress to Premier League. Twelve months on, the Sky Blues have shown there is life after Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer as the team continues to evolve and grow again with fresh and stronger foundations for success.

And so, in another summer of reinforcements, most have come to terms with the imminent loss of Callum O’Hare and the only real concern facing the players is whether a better-placed club comes in to replace Ben Sheaf, with little early speculation. linking him with interest from Fulham and newly promoted Ipswich Town, to add to ongoing links with a Luton side now confirmed as returning to the second tier and ambitions to go straight back up.

Other than that, there may be a bit of buzz around Ellis Simms and Haji Wright due to both being just one goal in 20 in their first season at CBS Arena, but with the pair being long-term . offers and just starting their development journey with the club it would be difficult to see them leave at this particular time.

The one pesky paper/web gossip that keeps popping up, however, concerns interest in Mark Robins, largely due to the number of managerial vacancies with the likes of Hull and Norwich getting rid of Liam Rosenior and David Wagner, and speculation mounting over Vincent Kompany’s future at newly relegated Burnley, amid talk the Belgian was wanted by Brighton.

The Hull link was floated about a week ago but, rest assured, nothing ever came of it, with Tigers owner Acun Ilicali aiming to have his new manager in place by this week, after two weeks of talks with German Tim Walter. Besides, a move to East Yorkshire just wouldn’t make sense for what is, with all due respect, a smaller club. Hull have big ambitions and a decent fan base, with an average home gate of just 22,000 last season, but why would the Robins ditch the Sky Blues project they’re fine with now?
