With a little help from his friends

Cornwall Community Foundation recently welcomed over a hundred ‘friends’ to its annual members’ event at The Big Beautiful Beach House in Porthpean.

Chair of Trustees Kim Conchie hosted the event to recognize and thank the Friends of CCF for their donations and support during a year in which the foundation reached significant new milestones.

In 2023, CCF donated £2,965,294 across 686 grants in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. In the first quarter of 2024, Cornwall Community Foundation distributed a record £1,035,246 to 185 community groups, social enterprises and individuals. This figure is significantly higher than in the first quarter of 2023, when CCF distributed £935,184 to 175 community groups.

At the event, Kim Conchie said: “Many of you have been CCF friends since membership began. Over the past four years, so many of our supporters have given generously in response to our appeals, from the Covid Emergency Fund to the Cost of Living Crisis Fund.

“We know that the need has not decreased on the field. Your donations are essential to help fund services and organizations like Community Enterprises PL12 that make a real difference to real life here in Cornwall.”

CCF Chief Executive Tamas Haydu added: “I would like to say a huge thank you to our Friends members and our entire team at CCF, together with our Grants Committee for their fantastic work in making these landmark grant distributions possible.”

“Thank you to the friends and events committee of the Cornwall Community Foundation for organizing this special event which was supported by donations from Healey’s, St Austell Brewery and Toby Ashworth.

“We really appreciated being in such an iconic location on the south coast for this memorable event, thanks to the kind owners of Big Beautiful House, Porthpean, who opened their stunning home to us.”
