New free-to-air TV channel promises ‘everyone’s favourites’ launched

A long-awaited new TV channel is coming to our TVs – and the best news is free. Rewind TV promises to air an assortment of the UK’s most popular shows.

Bossed say it’s the “destination channel for lovers of classic organized television around the world.” Shows include Return of the State Department S, which originally premiered in 1969. The 1990s comedy show Drop The Dead Donkey will also appear.




To further fan the flames of anticipation, a promo reel has been released on social media platforms. An original track with lyrics promising top content spanning four decades was embedded in the video: “It’s time to catch up with all the faves. Let’s go back in time, isn’t that amazing.”

Among the series featured will be Return of the State Department S, which originally premiered in 1969 and starred Peter Wyngarde, Joel Fabiani, Rosemary Nicols and Dennis Alaba Peters.

Renowned Oscar-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins previously essayed the role of Greg Halliday in this 28-episode British spy-adventure series. Tony Hancock, through his eponymous 1963 ITV series – a show awaiting its first UK TV rerun – will return.

The GlobeLink News luminaries are set to return via Channel 4 sitcom Drop The Dead Donkey, also in the schedule. This sitcom ran for six seasons between 1990 and 1998.

Other vintage shows scheduled for broadcast include The Beiderbecke Affair (1985) and Shine On Harvey Moon (1982).
