Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 close to production version spotted » MotorOctane

Royal Enfield is on a bike launch offensive. Several new bikes are in the works for the Indian market. It recently launched the Super Meteor 650 and is rumored to bring more new bikes based on this engine. One such bike is the Scrambler 650 and exclusive spy shots of the bike testing in India. In today’s article let’s talk about Royal Enfield Scrambler 650.

Jumping right into the spy photos, we have a big engine block similar to what we see on the Interceptor. This indicates that this is a 650cc bike. However, the engine has two pipes that merge into an exhaust pipe. So that’s a major clue that this is a Scrambler-style bike. We can see a full LED setup (headlights/tail lamps) and the instrument cluster appears to be a fully digital unit. The bike comes with higher ground clearance, probably for off-road. Surprisingly, this test mule doesn’t come with the fender you’d expect on a Scrambler. The front wheel appears to be 19 inches and the rear wheel appears to be 18 inches.

Compared to the Interceptor, Royal Enfield seems to have tweaked the tank design. Another plus over the Interceptor seems to be the suspension travel. Being a Scrambler, it should come with more off-road focused tires. It also looks like we have a license plate holder behind the riders leg. There have been changes to the handlebar setup, footpegs and new fenders. These test mules also have circular tail lamps identical to the Super Meteor 650.

Specifications

The Scrambler 650 will be powered by a 648cc parallel twin, air/oil cooled engine. This is the same engine that also powers the Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650 and Super Meteor 650. The power figures might also remain the same at 47.65 PS and 52 Nm. It should come with a 6-speed gearbox.
