Ford RideLondon: Full list of road closures ahead of cycling event

The 2024 edition of Ford RideLondon takes place this weekend from Friday 24th May to Sunday 26th May.

Since the event began in 2013, participants have raised over £85 million for charitable causes.

Ford Ride will therefore impact on a number of roads and routes in London and Essex. Here are all the road closures and times to be aware of.

Ford RideLondon Classique Stage 1 will be from Saffron Walden to Colchester.

The routes affected will be in the areas of Uttlesford, North Hertfordshire, East Hertfordshire, South Cambridgeshire, Braintree, Tendring and Colchester.

Central London will not be affected by road closures.

Between 6am and 9.30am, cyclists will set off from Victoria Embankment and ride through central London, east London and then Essex before returning to the capital by 6.30pm for a grand finish on Tower Bridge.

Here are the road closures for central London by borough during phase two:

St James’s Park and Green Park

The Mall – 6:00 a.m. to Monday, May 27, 8:00 a.m

Birdcage Walk – 6:00 a.m. to Monday, May 27, 8:00 a.m

Constitution Hill – 6:00 a.m. to Monday, May 27, 8:00 a.m

Spur Road – 6:00 a.m. to Monday, May 27, 8:00 a.m

Horse Guards Road – 6am to Monday 27th May 8am

Marlborough Road – 6am to Monday 27th May 8am

Ford RideLondon-Essex 100, Ford RideLondon FreeCycle and Ford RideLondon Classique Stage Three will take place on this date.

The routes affected will be central London, east London, the boroughs of Epping Forest, Braintree and Chelmsford.

Many buses will deviate from the proposed route or stop somewhere along the way. Use London’s rail and underground systems to get around more conveniently, or consider walking or cycling shorter distances.

Check with TfL before you commit to your journeys.

Alternatively, between 10am and 3pm, cyclists of all ages and skill levels can explore an eight-mile loop of central London, which is traffic-free on Sunday 26 May.
