M1 crash: Driver dies after van hits barrier near Wakefield

A man has died after the van he was driving hit the center barrier on the M1 on Sunday, police said.

Emergency services were called to the M1 northbound near the junction 41 shoulder at around 8.30pm BST.

The gray Ford Ranger is believed to have crossed lanes as it approached the shoulder, hitting the central reservation near Carr Gate, Wakefield.

A 20-year-old man from Huddersfield died at the scene and police were appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the crash is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
