Matt Peet spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s betfred Super League Round 11 clash against Huddersfield Giants.

The Warriors travel to the John Smith’s Stadium on the back of a home win against Catalans Dragons last time out in an impressive team performance at both ends of the pitch.

Liam Farrell scored his 150th career try in the win and of the club captain, Peet said: “Liam is a quality player and outstanding professional who we are very proud to call our captain.

“It’s low maintenance, high performance and worth every one of those 150 career tries. He’s everything you want in an elite professional, I’d say.”

Luke Thompson crossed for Wigan’s first try in Thursday night’s win at the DW Stadium, and of the striker’s impact since arriving at the Club, Peet said: “It’s been a great start to his Wigan career – I’ve been impressed. Luke has settled in really well with guys and a coaching staff like him. So far so good for Luke at Wigan.”

Huddersfield head into Saturday’s game on the back of two narrow defeats – losing by a point to St Helens in Round 9 before being beaten by two at home to Salford Red Devils last time out.

Of the Giants, Peet said, “They’re a good team that even in defeat has been very consistent. From a coaching point of view, they are good to watch because they are a well-prepared and well-coached team that sticks to their system.

“You can see they are on a journey to try and play a certain way and we have a lot of respect for them. We’ve had some great contests over the years and I think this weekend will be another close game.”

On Huddersfield’s attacking threat, which includes Super League’s top try scorer Adam Swift, Peet added: “They challenge you with outstanding form and they are very talented along with their willingness to work from tough – a Huddersfield trademark. It will be tough, which means we will have to be good as Huddersfield will challenge us. They don’t give you much because they make you work and earn.”

On the Warriors’ defense, Peet added, “We have our defensive systems. If a team like Huddersfield are trying to create something, you either want to make them work hard for it or it should be a really special piece. I hope that doesn’t happen.”

Tickets for Saturday’s game at the John Smith’s Stadium remain on general sale from the DW Stadium Box Office and online HERE. Full ticket information, including entry details for the women’s match (12pm KO) can be found HERE.
