Two security guards hospitalized after being attacked on the university campus

Two men have been taken to hospital after being attacked on the campus of Loughborough University, Leicestershire Police said. The two men, aged 47 and 52, were injured on Falker Avenue in Egginton in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 18).

Police were called to the scene shortly after 4am after reports that two men were being ‘attacked in the street’. Following inquiries, police say the attack is believed to have been carried out by two men trying to gain access to a flat.

The two injured men are believed to be university security officers. Falker Egginton, the university halls over the road, are the largest self-catering apartments on campus.
