Rishi Sunak looks on after the Red Devils’ humiliating defeat against Crystal Palace

Rishi Sunak returned to Manchester United just hours after the Red Devils lost 4-0 against Crystal Palace.

The Prime Minister revealed that he met with an Eagles-related charity today.

Palace for Life, a charity which helps young people in south London develop through sport, welcomed Sunak shortly after Manchester United were humiliated at Selhurst Park.

Sunak, a fan of Championship club Southampton, said: “United fans, look away now.

“Fantastic to meet the Palace for Life team at Crystal Palace today.

“Football changes lives and it’s great to see initiatives like this bringing communities together.”

However, Manchester United fans may soon get the last laugh.

Old Trafford is located in the staunchly pro-Labour seat of Stretford & Urmston.

Labor MP Andrew Western received 69.6% of the vote when voters held a by-election in 2022.

Support for Conservative candidate Emily Carter-Kandola was just 15.9%, down from 27.5% at the last general election.

Current opinion polls suggest Sunak’s Tories face a bruising night in the upcoming general election.

The Conservatives suffered heavy losses in last week’s local elections, with 474 councilors defeated and another landslide result in the Blackpool South by-election.

The latest Redfield & Wilton poll put the Conservatives on just 21%, with Sir Keir Starmer’s Labor Party leading the way with 44% support.

Manchester United’s defeat puts even more pressure on Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, with Michael Olise opening the scoring for the hosts in the 12th minute.

Jean-Philippe Mateta extended Crystal Palace’s advantage by finding the back of the net at the end of the first half.

Manchester United thought they had found a way back in the clash but Casimiro’s effort was disallowed for a foul on former goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Tyrick Mitchell took advantage of Manchester United’s woes with just half an hour to go.

Olise hit the target again shortly after his shot went over Onana to make it 4-0 at Selhurst Park.
