Fabrizio Romano drops pre-Wembley update on Joe Rodon transfer amid Leeds United hopes of summer deal

Leeds United are eyeing a permanent move for Joe Rodon this summer, which could only happen if they get promoted, but Tottenham are ready to let him go.

The Whites are preparing for a trip to Wembley this weekend to face Southampton in the Championship play-off final.

Integral to Leeds getting here has been Joe Rodon, on loan from Tottenham since August, and he has helped the team to a strong defensive record.

Joe Rodon to Leeds transfer updated from Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Leeds’ chances of landing loanee Rodon on a permanent deal have been given a significant boost.

That’s because he shares that Tottenham are currently happy to see him leave the club again in the summer window as part of a major overhaul under Ange Postecoglou:

Earlier on Tuesday, TEAMtalk claimed that a Β£12m deal, rising to Β£15m, would be required for any side looking to sign the Welshman.

If Leeds go up, the defender’s priority is to stay at Elland Road long-term after enjoying a superb 23/24 spell on loan.

Rodon to Leeds is a must this summer

Chances are, the only possible way Leeds re-sign Rodon is as a Premier League club, because he’s been so good to us.

However, if this is the case, we should have no problem agreeing and binding it.

How much he costs remains to be seen, but I imagine it won’t be a bank-breaking deal – to be fair, he’s been a Β£12-15m player for us this term.
