Body found on railroad tracks

A body was found on the railroad tracks this morning.

Emergency services were called to Wavertree Technology Park station at 9.25am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics attended, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”

When the ECHO arrived at the scene in the afternoon, a cordon was in place at the side of the road on Wavertree Avenue near the station. Neighbors saw forensic officers at the scene earlier in the day.
