The man who died after turbulence on a flight from London to Singapore was reported to be from Bristol.

The Singapore Airlines flight had to divert to Bangkok so the people could be treated.

The aircraft, a Boeing 777, was carrying more than two hundred passengers and 18 crew members, according to the airline.

After leaving Heathrow, it was diverted to Bangkok and landed just before 4pm local time

In a statement, Singapore Airlines said it offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

“Singapore Airlines flight #SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on 20 May 2024, encountered severe turbulence en route. The aircraft diverted to Bangkok and landed at 15:45 local time on 21 May 2024.

“We can confirm that there are injuries and one death on board the Boeing 777-300ER. A total of 211 passengers and 18 crew members were on board.

“Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

“Our priority is to provide all possible assistance to all passengers and crew on board the aircraft. We are working with local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance and are sending a team to Bangkok to provide any additional assistance needed.”
