Barrington Patterson’s widow confronts troll who mocked his death – he says ‘I have to be better’

The widow of popular Coventry goalkeeping legend Barrington Patterson, affectionately known as One-Eyed-Baz, has faced off against an internet troll who cruelly mocked her husband’s death online. Tracey Patterson was left outraged after waking up to Aston Villa fan’s vile comment.

The troll targeted Birmingham City fans and Barrington, a lifelong Blues supporter, shortly after Villa secured a place in next season’s Champions League. He posted on Facebook: “Vegans are suddenly silent again?”.

“What happened? Big Baz died again? Go and get in the trash.” The post was accompanied by three “laughing face” emojis.

Barrington died of a heart attack in March 2022 at the age of 56. He was seen as a legendary figure in the city for his tireless charity work after turning his hooligan lifestyle around, reports Birmingham Live.

Tracey told BirminghamLive she woke up this morning to the “horrible message” from “another troll”. “I decided I had to find this guy and educate him about what he did,” she said.

“I just thought I’ve had enough of it. It’s really upset us all. He needs to do better in life and be a better person.”
