The Health Minister says the Cornwall Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Project is nearing completion

Health and Welfare Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says the multi-billion dollar refurbishment of Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James is nearing the end.

The rehabilitation project that began in 2019 has been widely criticized by stakeholders, including the Opposition, who have raised concerns about the cost and duration of the project.

Speaking in Parliament during his sector debate presentation today, Dr Tufton said the third and final phase of rehabilitation had begun.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health noted that the Western Hospital for Children and Adolescents in St. James is more than half done.

The facility is expected to increase hospital bed availability in the western region.

He added that work is also underway at May Pen Hospital, while St. Ann’s Bay is going through the final stages of the design process for the work to be undertaken.
