Every free agent in the Championship so far, right up to Coventry City, is scouring the market

Coventry City have laid out their summer transfer intentions to cast their net wide as Mark Robins looks to add to an impressive core of a squad ahead of next season.

The Sky Blues boss is keen to strengthen a number of positions and club owner Doug King is expected to back the manager with more funds to put quality on the pitch. Meanwhile, the city’s recruiting department may have its eye on a free agent.

And there are plenty about them, including some excellent players. Coventry have already been heavily linked with interest in Preston North End skipper Alan Browne, who is out of contract at Deepdale and could well be looking for a new challenge after ten years at the club, although the 28-year-old has offered a new profitable business to stay.

The retained lists are confirmed up and down the division, with a number of familiar names coming to the end of their contracts.

Sam McCallum is one of four first-team regulars to leave Norwich City after their play-off semi-final defeat, along with Ben Gibson, Danny Batth and Dimitris Giannoulis.

Blackburn Rovers have sparked extensions for Sam Gallagher and Tyrhys Dolan – and will sit down with the pair to discuss their long-term futures – as they hold talks with veterans and ex-Sky Blues Kyle McFadzean and John Fleck.
