Newquay Junior Academy, Cornwall primary school to ban skirts because pupils wear them ‘too short’, could soon switch to tailored trousers or shorts

Newquay Junior Academy, a Cornwall primary school is considering a skirt ban. The school imposes the ban after some students allegedly wore it too short. The skirt lengths were deemed “too short” and do not comply with the school uniform policy. The school is considering switching to tailored pants or shorts for all students. The school authorities have even written a letter to parents seeking their advice on the matter. Under the proposed change, the skirt will no longer be part of the school’s uniform policy. All students will wear either tailored trousers or shorts. The transition from skirts to trousers or shorts will most likely take place in September 2024. Skirts banned in 40 secondary schools in England to support gender neutrality.
