Enfield Town sign Billy Leonard

Billy Leonard has become the first signing of the summer for newly promoted National League South outfit Enfield Town.

The centre-half scored nine in 39 outings for Hendon last season in the Southern Premier South, where he won the Players’ and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards.

Leonard’s previous clubs include Harrow Borough and North Greenford United.

Manager Gavin Macpherson admitted he tried to sign the player last season, telling the club’s official website:

“Even though I’ve gone up a level, I think he can take that step; he will work very hard and bring legs, energy and quality.

“I think he will complement the established players at the club and the ones we are working hard to bring in.”
