Half price tickets on sale for the ‘new’ Leicester Food Festival

Half-price tickets for a new food festival in Leicester are now on sale. The Leicester Food Festival will take place in Abbey Park this summer for two days.

The event will bring together local foodies, independent producers, street food vendors, brewers, bakeries, distillers and more, organizers said. There will also be an ‘artisan and food producers tent’ with over 100 stalls inside.

The marquee, set up by Midlands Makers, was called “a brilliant opportunity for any small business to showcase their wares” by Visit Leicester. There are also plans for a ‘brilliant local band programme’, an interactive marquee with stories from Leicester children’s publishers Sweet Cherry Publishing, a children’s craft marquee plus lots of other children’s activities over the weekend.

The festival has also teamed up with local fun fair Billy Bates for the weekend, where all festival tickets will get you free entry into the fair via a designated walkway. Representatives from Leicester City in the Community and Leicester Riders will also be in attendance to “engage and energize our local community with some fun activities”, organizers said.

For adults, you’ll be able to indulge in wine and cheese tastings, as well as enroll in ‘Gin School’, with masterclasses that can be on weekends. There will also be entertainment from tribute acts Coldplay and Ed Sheeran.

A festival spokesman said: “We have loads of great producers, food and drink businesses, cafes and restaurants here in Leicestershire and we want to really shout about them.

“Our main aim is to highlight and build Leicestershire’s food and drink reputation and really put us on the map. The Leicester Food Festival is a natural extension of this ethos.”
