Birmingham City and Alex Neil in talks over managerial vacancy

Birmingham City have held initial talks with Alex Neil over their managerial vacancy, according to reporter John Percy.

Birmingham City are looking for a new boss following confirmation that Tony Mowbray will stand down following extended sick leave.

Temporary options Mark Venus and Gary Rowett failed to right the sinking ship at St. Andrew’s and were relegated to League One on the final day of the 2023/24 season.

However, attention quickly turned to planning for a brighter future, with the Blues still having ambitious goals for the coming years despite relinquishing the Championship.

Now, with Mowbray’s exit confirmed, talks have taken place with Alex Neil.

Writing on X, reporter John Percy revealed that Birmingham City have held initial talks with the 42-year-old over their managerial vacancy. The appointment process is ‘still in progress’ however, so it seems the Blues haven’t zeroed in on their main candidate yet.
