Favorite Sheffield Wednesday will reach a new deal if Danny Rohl signs an extended contract

Someone else at Sheffield Wednesday to get a new contract, if manager Danny Rohl is extending his stay at the club.

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is looking to extend manager Danny Rohl’s contract this summer.

The German’s contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, but Chansiri is understandably keen to extend his current contract.

There have been reports of positive discussions between the pair. The latest on this front is that talks remain ongoing and remain positive.

And that will come as great news for Rohl-adoring Sheffield Wednesday fans after the 35-year-old guided the Owls to a miraculous 20th-placed finish in the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

It will also come as good news for first-team coach Chris Powell, who could also get a new deal based on Rohl’s contract being extended first.

Chris Powell could land a new Sheffield Wednesday contract

An emerging report from The Star has revealed that Sheffield Wednesday are “expected to hand over a new contract” to Powell, “in the event of successful negotiations over a new contract” for Rohl.

Powell arrived at Hillsborough shortly after Rohl’s arrival in the 2023/24 season and has since become a popular figure among Sheffield Wednesday fans.

Chansiri was believed to want Rohl to have an experienced coach and native English speaker at his side during his first managerial role, with Powell ticking the boxes.

The same report from The Star also revealed that the contracts of many other backcourt figures, including Sal Bibbo, Sascha Lense and Henrik Pedersen, also expire at the end of next season, along with Rohl’s contract.

One thing is key for Sheffield Wednesday right now

Sheffield Wednesday have a lot to deal with this summer, and it looks like the club is certainly getting a head start on some of the key issues.

A new business for Rohl seems to be the main priority and rightly so; he is the club’s most valuable asset at the moment and can lay the foundations for a much brighter future in S6.

But continuity is also something the Owls need right now. Keeping Rohl, retaining the backroom and key players from the 2023/24 season may mean keeping the club on this current trajectory.

If Sheffield Wednesday go through next season in the form they have shown under Rohl this season, then they will be in the top six.

So continuity seems key for Sheffield Wednesday right now, and also retaining the experience of names like Powell, who previously worked in the England set-up.
