A murder investigation is launched in Leicester after an 18-year-old was stabbed

A murder investigation has been launched after an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the New Parks area of ​​Leicester. Two 17-year-old teenagers were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 52-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting a criminal. Two other men, aged 36 and 17, and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. All those arrested remain in custody.



Police were called to Glazebrook Road just before 1.15pm today (Wednesday, May 22). Emergency services attended and the man was treated for his injuries but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Leicestershire Police said that Glazebrook Road and Gillman Road are being maintained. Detectives will remain in the area to carry out further inquiries while officers from the West Leicester Neighborhood Policing Area (NPA) will carry out reassurance patrols.

Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) Major Crime Team, said: “While our investigation is at an early stage and a number of people have been arrested, I am appealing as anyone who has information to present itself as an urgent matter. This incident happened in broad daylight in a residential area so I strongly believe there are people out there who can help. I would ask anyone with doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact the police. Anything you can tell us, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could be important.
