Statement on Sarah Mayhew | Merton Council Newsroom

“Police have confirmed that the remains found in the River Wandle yesterday are believed to be those of Sarah Mayhew, a 38-year-old woman from Croydon. Two people known to her are already accused of her murder.

“On behalf of Merton Council, I would like to pass on my condolences to Sarah’s friends and family – my thoughts are with them at this terrible time.

“This is a truly shocking incident and I know many people in our community have been affected by the news. Police and community safety officers from the council will be in the area to provide reassurance.

“We remain in close contact with the police as they continue their investigation.”
