Fatal crash closes I-91 southbound in Enfield

ENFIELD, CT (WFSB) – A portion of southbound Interstate 91 is closed in Enfield Tuesday night due to a fatal crash, according to officials.

State police confirmed to Eyewitness News that one person died in the crash. The person has been identified as TJ Jennings, 39, of New York.

State police say Jennings was exiting his vehicle in the right lane and was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation said the southbound side is closed between exits 46 and 45.

A Channel 3 cameraman filmed an overturned vehicle in the woods.

The accident was reported around 5:30 p.m

The investigation is currently active.
