Bristol Brewery has ‘outgrown’ its brewery but hopes to remain in BS3

Bristol Brewery will be moving to a new brewery later this year. The team says it has “outgrown the brewery” and has been looking to move to a site that is still in the BS3 zone.

According to a blog post, the Brewery said: “Later this year we will be moving the taproom a few doors up the road to the Old Brewery and in September, we will be moving the brewery to Ashton Vale Trading Estate.” The post goes on to say, “To facilitate the move and best control what comes next (in terms of scale and design), we are working with a local team on a heritage-based planning application.”

This application sought to restore “the crumbling old beer tower and convert it into a co-working space”, “redevelop the building into a four-storey tobacconist-style building on North Street with ground floor retail” and ” the creation of 105 new flats for Bristol School of Acting students, which would be above and behind, in low-rise cottages and a brewery-style chat block’.

Bristol Beer Factory goes on to say: “We’re the first to admit we’re not developers, but having been here for so long we’re determined to leave a legacy and see that this is the best way to do it. We brought on board a local team of design experts who understand our vision. The plan would be to get planning permission and then sell it to someone who shares our vision and love for North Street.

In its 20th anniversary year, the brewery team hope a move to a new location will help grow the business in the future. BristolLive has contacted Bristol Beer Factory for comment.
